De mythe van de groene consument houdt het huidige klimaatdebat in de greep. Echte verandering begint niet bij persoonlijke gedragsverandering of technologische innovaties, maar bij de politiek. Niet langer moeten klimaatverandering als individu bevechten, maar ons verbinden aan de collectieve kracht van verandering. Aldus journalist Jaap Tielbeke, schrijver van het boek ‘Een beter milieu begint niet bij jezelf’ (2020). Hij pleit de burger niet vrij van actie, maar kantelt het debat van ‘consumer-shaming’ naar de vragen: wie is er verantwoordelijk en hoe roepen we hen op tot verantwoording?
Op vrijdagavond verkennen we hoe we het pleidooi van Jaap Tielbeke (h)erkennen in de Nederlandse voedselbeweging. Met de vraag: wat is de kracht van het collectief in de voedselbeweging gaan we in gesprek over XR Landbouw, Caring Farmers, Voedsel Park Amsterdam en Voedselraden Duitsland. Collectieven die bewijzen dat een radicale transformatie van het voedselssyteem structurele, -anders dan individuele, verantwoording vraagt.

We must no longer fight climate change as individuals, but commit to the collective power of change. He does not excuse the citizen from action, but tilts the debate from ‘consumer-shaming’ to the questions: who is responsible and how do we call them to account?
On Friday evening we explore how we (re)recognize Jaap Tielbeke’s plea in the Dutch food movement. With the question: what is the power of the collective in the food movement we will discuss XR Agriculture, Caring Farmers, Voedsel Park Amsterdam and Voedselraden (Food Councils) Germany. Collectives that prove that a radical transformation of the food system requires structural, -as opposed to individual, accountability.
